Entune 3.0 Remote Connect Features and Installation
This video will go over the Remote Connect feature found in Toyota’s new Entune 3.0 multimedia system.
Remote Connect is a new feature that comes standard on select Toyota vehicles. This service is integrated into Entune 3.0 Audio Plus and Premium Audio multimedia systems, and is managed via the all-new Remote Connect app available for iOS and Android devices.
With Remote Connect, you can access key functions and features of your vehicle all from the convenience of your smartphone, wherever it may be. Let’s dig into some of the great functionality available.
First, we have the ability to lock and unlock the vehicle’s doors, and again this can be done from anywhere in the world so long as the phone and vehicle both have cellular coverage. Imagine if the kids left a laptop in the car, but you’re currently across the country on business travel — it goes without saying that this can be a real lifesaver.
To do this, simply tap the Lock or Unlock icon in the middle of the Remote Connect app screen. You’ll receive a confirmation message saying that action was successful. If no doors are opened within 30 seconds, the vehicle will relock itself.
Next up is Remote Engine Start and Stop. With this, you can get the car nice and warmed up on a chilly morning before ever even stepping foot out the door. This can also help with cooling down the car if it’s been baking in the hot sun all day. Hot or cold, it will simply default to restoring the last snooze climate control setting when the vehicle was last turned off.
To do this, simply tap the large Start Engine icon in the upper area of a Remote Connect app. The vehicle will be contacted, and the engine started. When the engine starts via Remote Connect, a 10-minute timer will begin. If you don’t get into the vehicle before the timer expires, the engine will shut back off. You can also manually stop the engine by tapping the same large icon.
Now what if you’ve been walking around downtown all day and you can’t for the life of you remember where you parked? Well, Remote Connect can help with that too thanks to the Vehicle Finder feature.
Simply tap Vehicle Finder in the lower left corner of the Remote Connect app and a map will be displayed with your vehicle’s location. Additionally, there’s a Vehicle Status Alerts function that enables you to stay on top of your car, like if the trunk, doors, or windows are open, or even the amount of fuel remaining in the tank.
This feature can be accessed by tapping the Vehicle Status in the center of the lower screen of the Remote Connect app.
Last, but certainly not least, is the Guest Driver Monitor function, which, as its name implies, allows you to monitor the vehicle when in the hands of someone else, say a valet or family member. It actually stores customizable profiles for up to 5 guest drivers. So, for instance, when the Guest Driver Monitor is active, you can receive alerts if your vehicle is travelling above a set speed or even outside a set geographic radius. This feature can be accessed by tapping Guest Driver in the lower right of the Remote Connect app.
So now at this point you’re probably wondering: “How do I get this?” Well, assuming you’ve got a vehicle with Entune 3.0 Audio Plus or Premium Audio, as well as a compatible smartphone, all you’ll need to do is download the app. It can be found on the App Store for iOS devices and the Google Play store on Android devices.
Once you’ve got that downloaded, you’ll need to register your vehicle on Toyota Owners and enroll onto the connected services it offers. Upon doing this, you’ll receive a Remote Connect authorization code in your email. Once you receive the authorization code, you’ll need to initialize the vehicle via the Remote Authorization app in the Entune 3.0 multimedia system.
To do that, first press Apps, and then Communications, and then the Remote Service icon. Now enter the six-digit authorization code you received in your email and then tap Submit. A message will appear stating that the authorization was successful, so go ahead and tap Okay.
With that, you’re all done. The app and all its great features are now up and running.
