Choosing a new crossover to cruise Aurora streets in doesn’t have to be tough. Simply compare the 2020 Toyota RAV4 vs. 2021 Subaru Forester to see how this Toyota SUV holds up against the competition. We have confidence that you’ll love the new RAV4 for more than just its look. Compare these models in terms of safety, interior technology, and more today!

Safety Features

When you compare the Subaru Forester to the new Toyota RAV4, you will see that both provide lots of standard active safety features such as Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, which alerts the driver if the vehicle shifts out of the lane, a Pre-Collision System, which monitors the road for obstacles, and Active Cruise Control, which, when activated, will match the speed of the vehicle ahead of you on the highway.

However, the RAV4 comes standard with automatic high beams to better illuminate the streets of Plainfield as well as with a few other highlights. Here’s what each model offers differently:

  • Forester: EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology, Subaru DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System, All-Around Awareness, and SUBARU STARLINK® Safety and Security.

Performance

Performance-wise, you’ll see these models are worthy opponents, however, in the end, the Toyota crossover is in the lead:

  • With an available tow prep package in the 2020 Toyota RAV4 Adventure trim, this crossover can tow up to 3,500 pounds. That’s significantly more than the 1,500-pound maximum tow rating of the 2020 Forester.
  • The RAV4 produces 203 hp with its 2.5L four-cylinder on the base trim. The Forester returns 182 hp with its 2.5L four-cylinder engine.
  • The Forester makes you pay for standard all-wheel drive. However, with the RAV4, drivers have the option to choose between all-wheel drive and front-wheel drive.
  • The RAV4 comes standard with a Direct Shift 8-speed automatic transmission, while the Forester has a continuously variable transmission. Neither model is available with a manual transmission.

Interior Features

Interested in a comfortable and well-equipped vehicle? We recommend the 2020 RAV4. While the Forest offers plenty, there are simply some features that can only be had on the RAV4. These include:

  • Entune 3.0 Audio
  • Max cargo capacity: 69.8 cubic feet
  • Available 120V Rear Cargo Power Outlet

The Forester offers a few extra features not found on the RAV4. These include:

  • SUBARU STARLINK Multimedia
  • SI-DRIVE
  • An available SUBARU STARLINK Entertainment Anywhere kit
  • Available Power Panoramic Moonroof
