Out of State Payment Procedure

For out of state sales at Toyota of Naperville, we accept payment in three different ways:

1. First and foremost, we take cash when someone wants one of our Toyota cars who lives out of Illinois, but we do not accept personal checks, bank checks, cashier checks, money orders, or credit cards.
2. Otherwise, we do accept wired funds, but the task needs to be completed Monday through Friday before 4:00 p.m. The money must also be in our account before the customer takes the delivery. In these cases, we recommend this is done a day ahead of time, and all funds are fully refundable. We send our customers a bill of sale and the wire information.
3. The final option to purchase a vehicles at Toyota of Naperville is through financing. If you go this route and finance with us, then we need approval from a lender before the delivery is made. Again, we recommend this step be finished one day beforehand. If you use your own bank or credit union as your lender, then you must have the institution wire the funds to Toyota of Naperville before delivery, as we cannot take a check from the lender.

Taxes and Registration

Also important to note for drivers who finance with us or use their own lenders is that we will be collecting taxes based on where you live or where your new vehicle will be registered. If wiring funds to us, Toyota of Naperville won’t collect sales tax or other state fees unless you live in a reciprocal state, though you will pay our documentation and drive away fees.While we can handle the title paperwork, we can’t do license plates for out of state residents. Instead, we’ll send the customer home in what we call a drive away, which is a temporary tag that’s good for 30 days until plates are issued.

Shipping vs. Pick Up

Toyota of Naperville doesn’t directly ship vehicles ourselves to out of state buyers, but we can recommend a local shipper to you. We’re unable to provide a quote to you for this process, and you would have to make the call and arrangements on your own.Aside from shipping, we do encourage you to fly or drive to our dealership to pick up the vehicle. Once you wire the funds to us to purchase your Toyota, we’ll keep the car on hold while you travel to pick it up. We’re located at 1488 W. Ogden Avenue in Naperville, IL.
