2018 Toyota Sequoia TRD Sport Indoors

The 2018 Toyota Sequoia TRD Sport will bring a fresh sense of adventure to one of the industry’s most perennially popular 8-seater SUVs. The all-new trim level, which comes as part of the Toyota Sequoia’s upcoming mid-cycle refresh, recently debuted at the Chicago Auto Show, and it quickly became one of the event’s most talked-about models. Here’s what we know so far.

2018 Toyota Sequoia TRD Sport Capability

TRD might stand for Toyota Racing Development, but most Toyota SUVs and trucks offer a TRD trim level to ensure stronger backcountry performance. For the 2018 Toyota Sequoia TRD Sport, the vehicle is fittingly gaining some off-road oriented upgrades.

The current 5.7L i-Force V8 engine will remain, though we have not yet heard whether any boosts have been made to the already impressive output of 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque. What the TRD Sport will receive is a set of custom-tuned Bilstein shocks and new TRD front/rear anti-sway bars. With such upgrades, even a larger SUV like the Toyota Sequoia should be able to handle tougher terrain. Even better, you should notice yourself carving corners with greater precision and enjoying an overall enhancement to handling when you’re cruising the streets of Elmhurst and Aurora.

TRD Sport Design and Features

The Toyota Sequoia TRD Sport will stand out from the crowd thanks to 20-inch black alloy wheels, smoked taillamp lenses, a bespoke grille and front fascia, gloss-black mirror caps, and, of course, distinctive TRD Sport badging. Exterior finishes include Super White, Magnetic Gray, and all-new Midnight Black. Once inside, you’ll encounter a striking black cloth interior that offers a TRD-branded TRD shift knob, floor mats, and door sill protectors.

The Toyota Sequoia TRD Sport will also carry plenty of high-grade features, including power front seats and an Entune Premium infotainment system with Integrated Navigation. Like all 2018 Toyota Sequoia models, the TRD Sport will supply the advanced driver-assistance technologies of Toyota Safety Senseâ„¢ P (TSS-P).
