Toyota Motor Corporation Dominates 2012 Vehicle Dependability Study
Prospective vehicle shoppers just got another reason why owning a car produced by the Toyota Motor Corporation is a good idea. The automotive company recently dominated the 2012 J.D. Power and Associates Vehicle Dependability Study by earning eight segment awards. This is more than twice as many as the runner-up in the study and shows that Toyota, Lexus and Scion vehicles are some of the most dependable, longest lasting vehicles on the road. Toyota Motor Sales President, Jim Lentz was very pleased with the results and has vowed to continue to keep producing these quality vehicles.
“We are extremely pleased that not only did we win awards in eight of the 14 model segments, but that in two segments we finished one-two and made the podium in 12 segments overall,” said Lentz.

Sub-Compact Car segment: Toyota Yaris in first and the Scion xD in second
Compact Car segment: Toyota Prius in first and the Toyota Corolla in second
Compact Crossover SUV: Toyota Rav4 finished third
Compact Multi-Purpose vehcle: Scion xB in first
Compact Sporty Car: Scion tC in first
Entry Premium Car: Lexus ES350 in first
Midsize Car: Toyota Camry finished third
Midsize Van: Toyota Sienna finished first
Midsize Premium Crossover SUV: Lexus RX350 finished first
Large Premium Car: Lexus LS460 finished first
Large Car: Toyota Avalon finished second
Large Pick Up: Toyota Tundra finished first
On top of all of these awards the Lexus nameplate was first in the vehicle dependability study and the Toyota nameplate was third in a tie. Both of these finished well above average in comparison to other brands.
