2014 Toyota Corolla
Few things create the opportunity for spectacle in the automotive world like the unveiling of a new version of a popular model. And after weeks of teasing on the internet and a show that included acrobats, comedians and celebrity chefs, Toyota finally revealed the 2014 Toyota Corolla by lowering it from the rafters of Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, CA on June 6. The new Toyota Corolla has received a total redesign and is based on the Corolla Furia Concept Car that made its world debut this winter at the Detroit Auto Show. At first blush, the 2014 Toyota Corolla is clearly a more sculpted and sleeker than its predecessors.
After nearly 50 years of production and almost 40 million cars sold worldwide, the Toyota Corolla was due for a major upgrade and it got it. The new Toyota Corolla will have two engine choices available to customers. However, the exciting development is with the new high-efficiency powertrain. Available on the new 2014 Toyota Corolla LE Eco trim will be a 1.8-liter, four-cylinder engine featuring Valvematic technology. While official Environmental Protection Agency fuel-estimates have not been released, Toyota announced that they expect the new Corolla to be able to achieve more than 40 miles per gallon. Contributing to the high fuel-efficiency of the 2014 Corolla is the continuously variable transmission (CVT). This is the first Toyota vehicle in the United States to use the CVT technology and its pulley system that has an infinite variable gear ratio for maximum efficiency.
The exterior of the 2014 Toyota Corolla has been described as bold and more athletic. Toyota engineers used lighter steel with higher tensile strength that solves two issues. One, lighter steel weighs less than the alternative which is inherently going to make the car more fuel-efficient. The stronger steel also stiffens the body-roll and will make the new Corolla’s handling feel sharper and the driver more connected to the road, says Toyota. The interior of the new Corolla also has received at upgrade with higher quality materials and sport-inspired dash layout.
Pricing information has not been released yet. And these kinds of events generally lead to more and more details being released as we get closer to the date when the 2014 Toyota Corolla will hit the gound at Toyota of Naperville.
